A clear marketing message for users

January 12th, 2008 by eric

I was out in Chicago this week for business and stayed at the Hotel 71. The hotel met my needs but other then that it did not blow me away. I had a newly renovated room and plenty of space, but the design was very much middle of the road. The one thing that stood out to me (and actually made me down-write giddy) was the ‘do not disturb’ sign. For years people have done the same thing with the sign…so much so that we all refer to it as the ‘do not disturb’ sign. The door sign for the Hotel 71 is clear, easy to read, and gets directly to the point. I love the fact that it is so user centric while at the same time grabbing a person’s attention by refusing to go down the path of normalcy.

The very clear marking message:

do not disturb
